Biography

Duncan has worked as a journalist for The Tyee and The Tico Times. He began learning how to develop websites shortly after graduating college, and found that learning fundamental programming skills opened a door for him into the fields of data science and data journalism. Currently, he works as a full-time data analyst at an online travel agency, and uses his data science skill-set to work on freelance data journalism projects.

Capturing racial justice protests with data

Thank you for sharing the list of investigation tools! This is fantastic. As a Canadian living in Montreal, I'm a little upset that there haven't been more protests across Canada. I suppose it could be because of COVID-19. I'm wondering if it was an intentional choice to not mention anything about COVID-19 in the article? Also, is there a reason the interactive map doesn't function within the article itself? Thanks, Duncan
