Biography

For the better part of the 31 years, I have worked with leading media houses in Nigeria, essentially in the editorial unit and variously as a financial reporter, editor and ultimately the CEO/Managing Editor of a financial newspaper ( FINANCIAL STANDARD) that I nurtured from inception to a stage where it became the leading financial newspaper in Nigeria. Creative, innovative, teachable and self -motivated and at home with big picture thinking and uncommon ability to simplify financial information for common understanding, a skill that earned me the Reuters Award in 1999 which took me to the Reuters' office in London where I was exposed to simplified business and financial reporting. I have also built an extensive network of friends within the media industry and I have organised highly successful media briefings for top government officials , the latest being for the immediate Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Had a shot at organising personal finance seminars for individuals and corporate organisations in major states of the country. Looking for an avenue to integrate my media background with consulting experience and deploy such union at a top position in a leading organisation (private or public). I work with a network of financial analysts who produce reports and magazines for clients. I coordinated the production of a financial publication titled PARTNERSHIP FOR DEVELOPMEMT, a joint work between Johnnic Publishing, South Africa and Financial Standard Newspapers.

I am , at the moment, the Editor-at-Large for THISDAY Newspaper and Chief of Staff to the Chairman/Editor-in-Chief where I am directly in charge of not only initiating editorial and business projects but also responsible for filtering all incoming business and editorial ideas for the THISDAY and Arise Group.

RELEVANT EXPOSURE

o Participated in the US International Visitors ' Programme in 1996 as the only Nigerian in the team that also included 12 journalists from other developing countries of the world. We were on a tour of six states in the US and visited a few media organisations o I won the Reuters Award in 1997 and that took me to the London office of Reuters where, along with 30 other winners from different parts of the world, we were exposed to the basics of financial reporting. o I was at the Revenue Transformation Workshop of the International News Media Association(INMA), Denver Colorado, USA, October 2014 o I also attended the Executive Training Programme on Project Execution and Sustainable Development at the University of Oxford, Oxford, December 2014 o I have also covered the World Bank/IMF and African Development Bank ( ADB) meetings on behalf of THISDAY Newspapers o I also attended in September 2015 in Santa Clara, US, an Experts Academy where we were trained on how to develop information marketing products o I was also a participant at the recently concluded workshop/interactive forum organised by Bloomberg LP, on Business Media in South Africa, November 2015
