Biography

Dr. Stuart W. Shulman is the founder and CEO of Texifter. He is also a US Soccer National C-licensed coach for Valeo Futbol Club. Stu was formerly a University of Massachusetts Amherst political science professor and the Vice President for Text Analytics at VisionCritical. He was also the founder and Director of the Qualitative Data Analysis Program (QDAP) at the University of Pittsburgh and at UMass.

Dr. Shulman is the sole inventor of the Coding Analysis Toolkit (CAT), an open source, .NET, Azure-based text analysis software project that recorded over 2.4 million human text classification observations (cat.texifter.com). He is the inventor (with Mark J. Hoy) of the #1 ranked (http://bit.ly/2ClYjEQ) text analytics platform: DiscoverText (discovertext.com), engineered in .NET and running on Azure. His invention Sifter was a tool for primarily academic researchers who gained self-serve access to the complete undeleted history of Twitter (sifter.texifter.com) and published studies across disciplines (discovertext.com/publications).

Dr. Shulman was the Principal Investigator and Project Director on National Science Foundation-funded cross-disciplinary research studies focusing on electronic rulemaking (eRulemaking), human language technologies, manual annotation, digital citizenship, and service-learning in the United States.
