Biography

Soila Kenya is a data journalist and fact-checker from Nairobi, Kenya. She started her journalism career at Daystar University by being an editor for school publications such as Involvement Newspaper and Daystar Oracle and obtained a B.A. in Communication. She works for Code for Africa, Africa's largest data journalism and civic tech lab covering stories involving, environment and climate change, women and gender and health/science. She won the 2018 African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting award in the print category and was nominated for the Best fact-check in 2018 by AfricaCheck. She also helps journalists across the continent find, clean, analyse, visualise and use this data to enrich their stories.
