Biography

Yolanda led the first Massive Online Open Course of data journalism fundamentals that was tailored for audience in Asia, which attracted more than 4000 participants. In 2014, Yolanda co-founded Data Journalism China, an initiative that have successfully nurtured the first generation of data journalism practitioners in China, which has been closed with its mission completed. Since 2012, she has trained hundreds of professional journalists in China on data journalism.

Previously, Yolanda worked for Thomson Reuters on an award-winning data visualization project. Before that she was the first Social Media Editor at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. From 2016-2017, Yolanda was a Global Governance Futures Fellow, with a focus on Data Governance. Currently Yolanda is based in Bangkok, working for the United Nations Development Programme's regional office on innovative finance.
