Biography
I've been at the BBC since 2002. I began leading a team of developers for BBC Sport and moved to the News Specials team in 2011, where I worked closely with the editors of the BBC News Website to develop a strategy for Data and Visual Journalism. This included building up a team of specialist developers within a multi-disciplinary group to focus on delivering high impact News Specials and contributing to the end-to-end process and practice of creating great data-journalism for an audience of millions across multiple languages. It was in this capacity that I contributed to the Data-Journalism handbook with Bella Hurrell in 2012.
Within the remit of this role I began work on productising the tools used for data-journalism at the BBC and have managed the provision of data-tooling (among other things) to several editorial teams across the organisation.
I now work across a portfolio of content creation products for the BBC, building and commissioning the software that helps deliver our digital output.
