Biography

Emma Laura Namwanje Kisa is a Data Journalist and Fact-checker with Code for Africa, as part of their pan-African data team. She has worked in the media and communication field for 11 years and is a Uganda National Journalism Awards (UNJA) 2017 nominee in the Data Journalism category.

Emma has previously trained in United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals reporting with International Center For Journalists and has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Investigative Journalism and a Post Graduate Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation both at Makerere University. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Arts as a Communication Skills major and French minor from the same university.

She started her career in broadcast with University FM and later moved into public and audience relations with Vantage Communications Ltd followed by Fellowship of Christian Unions Uganda, before joining Ultimate Multimedia Consult (UMC) Ltd as a multimedia specialist, operations manager, and general manager. She also did administration work with Interface Consulting (U) Ltd.

Emma has a strong interest in Early Childhood Development.
