Biography

Jane Elizabeth is managing editor at The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C., and The Herald-Sun in Durham, N.C. Prior to that, she was a Washington Post Deputy Metro Editor.a former deputy local editor at The Washington Post; and has taught journalism at Old Dominion University, the University of Pittsburgh and Point Park University. Jane's work as a reporter, editor and manager at a total of five metropolitan U.S. newspapers - including news organizations in Virginia and Pennsylvania - has focused largely on politics and government. She also served as Director of Accountability Journalism at the American Press Institute, a media think tank in the Washington, D.C., region. She holds a master's degree in mass communications from Virginia Commonwealth University, and was a 2017 Knight Visiting Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
